This year sees the centenary of the South Molton Town Band, and to celebrate this we will be holding a concert in the Pannier Market on 25th June starting at 7pm.

Last year we held a very successful proms type concert in the market, and felt that we should repeat this and make this our centenary concert.

All profits on the evening will be split between the band funds and the New Chemotherapy unit at North Devon District Hospital

Records show that back in 1911 the Weslyan Mission Band and the Volunteer Regimental Band amalgamated to be called the South Molton Town Band, and 100 years later the band is still very active and has a good membership, although as with all bands there are always spaces for more players.

It was as far back as 2003, that we held a very successful re union, which was repeated in 2004. With that in mind we thought it would be yet another opportunity to meet all past members and friends who have had any connection with the band.

Whilst we will do our best once again to contact as many as possible, if you know anyone who would like to attend, please please contact them on our behalf or let us know a contact number and letter will be sent to them.

As far as the evening is concerned, the first half of the concert will take the form of a normal programme and the second half will be in the style of ‘Last Night of the Proms’

So please make every effort to attend this very special night – bring your own seating & picnic (It is planned to have be a bar and burgers etc ), and we look forward once again to seeing as many as possible, and trust that you will have an enjoyable evening, meet lots of old friends, enjoy some good music and food.
